Grant Bickerton

Grant is a psychologist with over 15 years’ experience in Christian ministry with Power to Change (formerly known as Campus Crusade for Christ) in Australia and overseas.  Grant is currently working in the Member Care department of Power to Change applying findings from his research at the University of Western Sydney investigating the organizational, psychological, and spiritual variables that promote work engagement and personal well-being among Australian Christian workers.  He is a registered member of the Psychology Board of Australia, the Australian Psychological Society (APS), and the Christianity and Psychology Interest group of the APS.  Psychological areas of specialty include burnout and well-being at work, anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, alcohol and other drug dependence and abuse, behavioural “addictions” (such as pornography and gambling), and the interface of psychology and religion.  His research has been published in a variety of peer reviewed psychological journals spanning organisational psychology and the psychology of religion and spirituality.

Nicky Chiswell

 

Qualified as a psychologist in the mid 80’s, Her early psychology roles were in Community Health as well as a Foster Care and Group Home Care team in Sydney.  For the last 14 years she has been working counselling young children, adolescents and families as a school psychologist. 

Nicky loves to assist people with depression, anxiety, stress, coaching, addiction issues, relationship problems, organisational issues, procrastination and social skills. She also enjoys working with those who are on the autistic spectrum (high functioning) and works to promote understanding of this spectrum to those around them. At school she also does psychometric assessments to explore learning difficulties and/or giftedness.

 

Nicky has training in Systemic Family Therapy, Brief Therapy and Solution Focussed Approaches, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness Approaches and Narrative Therapy. She also has an interest in Coherence Therapy. 

She also has an interest in developments in neuro-science are that shedding light on mental health. It is an amazing time to be a psychologist as developments in brain research, and other relevant physiology, rockets ahead.  She is also looking to do some more training in couples therapy in the near future. She is keen to promote a good understanding of mental health issues for those using their gifts in pastoral care in churches. 

Nicky has run seminars for churches and para-church organisations on:

  • Mental Health in Pastoral Care
  • Depression
  • Depression and Anxiety

She lives in Melbourne and is married to Graeme. They have two adult sons and two daughters-in–law.

Andree Sellars

 

is a psychologist who has worked in the Mental Health field for 11 years. She specialises in complex needs, i.e. the interaction of mental health, drugs and alcohol issues and other isssues such as homelessness, trauma or disadvantage.  

She has worked in Public Mental Health in Dual Diagnosis, the interaction of drug and alcohol and mental health, in education and consultation roles for mental health and drug and alcohol workers.

Andree has been employed in residential Drug and Alcohol rehabilitation and psychiatry as well as the NGO sector. Currently Andree is the Mental Health Program developer and Coordinator at Salvation Army Project 614. This program services a client group comprised of the homeless and disadvantaged people of Melbourne. Andree has a holistic, Person-Centred approach to the complex needs of her clients. 

 

As well as psychology and drug and alcohol treatment she has had training in various counselling theories and therapies, risk assessment, Suicide prevention, trauma recovery, and Workplace Training and Assessment.

Andree has worked for the Victorian AIDS council. She was also involved in developing and delivering state-wide guidelines/training for Dual Diagnosis Screening and Assessment and Indigenous Dual Diagnosis projects.

For churches and ministries she has run workshops/training in Strategic Planning 

  • Parenting and youth mental complex needs
  • Mental Health
  • Dealing with aggressive people
  • Boundaries
  • Andree also has experience in developing Strategic Plans, guidelines and policies for Christian ministries and churches.
